How can you mend a broken heart?
This February, the month for sweethearts, chocolates, true love, and Valentine's Day, we're asking for your help to repair a broken heart.
Meet Henry, one of Havanese Rescue's newest fosters. Henry is a one-year-old Hav puppy with a Grade 4-5 heart murmur and PDA, a congenital heart defect. His heart is enlarged and the walls have already thickened. Without surgery he won't live more than another year or two. No “Run Like Heck” is advised for Henry and all puppy-like activity is limited. But, there is hope for our Henry. That's where we can all help to mend his broken heart.......
Cardiac surgery, based on pediatric procedures, allows the surgeon to enter through Henry's groin into the femoral artery to repair his heart, rather than the past practice of large, invasive incisions and the increased concern for infection and trauma to his young body. The best part- a success rate of 95% and a happy and healthy future for our little boy!
How can you help? The cost of the procedure to fix Henry's heart, even with our rescue discount, is $3,800! As a community of Havanese lovers and supporters of rescue, HRI is asking for your assistance. Just look for the “Mend Henry’s Broken Heart” link on the left to make your donation and to add a tribute in someone’s honor or memory or to add a special Valentine’s greeting. Click on the Henry’s Heroes page icon to view a list of contributors and their tributes. Please keep this sweet guy in your thoughts and prayers.
Happy Valentine's Day and many thanks for your support of rescue and dogs like Henry!
